@Jim275, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

I understand the printer is stuck. Have you tried power resetting the printer?

  1. With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
  2. Wait at least 60 seconds.
  3. Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.
  4. Turn ON the printer, if it does not automatically turn on.
  5. Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you proceed.

Note: HP recommends connecting the printer directly to a wall outlet rather than a surge protector or a power strip.

If this does not help, unplug the power cable and hold the power button down for 10-15 seconds and release it. Power on the printer and check.

If the issue persists, lets us perform an NVRAM reset.

I have sent you a private message with a set of instructions to perform a reset. Kindly check the same, this might help you to resolve this issue. Check next to your profile name, you should see a little blue envelope, please click on it.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

Sorry I was on travel this week. Here are all the things that I have tried and the printer is still stuck initializing:

- turned off the printer, unplugged it and replugged it directly into the wall. Turned the printer back on, but still stuck initializing.

- unplugged the printer, waited 60-seconds, plugged it back in - result the printer is still stuck initializing

- held the left bottom corner of the LCD screen through bootup - result the printer is still stuck initializing

- left printer unplugged while on travel for 6-days, powered up held the left bottom corner of the LCD screen through bootup - result the printer is still stuck initializing

No matter what I have done the printer is still stuck in an initializing state.
