Printer stuck at the initialization screen for several hours. The number under the progress bar continues to rise. Can i turn it off and on again without damage?

When it exceeds 500 it is unlikely to start successfully and unplugging is your only option. Damage beyond any preexisting problems is unlikely. Did you just update the firmware by any chance?
