HP Color Laser MFP 178nw
Microsoft Windows 11

Hello.

My HP MFP 178nw will happily print the first page of something, but as soon as that page comes out, the printer flashes paper jam. There is no paper jam, so I open and close the ink door, whereupon the printer will print the same page again. This will happen as many times as I open and close the door.

The only way to stop it is to turn the printer off and on again (as well as opening/closing the door) and clearing the print queue. It is also very difficult to clear the print queue without restarting whichever device I'm using. I've done the Print Spool thing which works, but I'm pretty sure that only happens because the printer is 'holding' the file.

This happens using my personal Windows 11 laptop (LG)), my work Windows 10 Enterprise laptop (Dell) and my Android phone though the HP Smart app.

I've updated to the latest firmware which hasn't helped.

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

Sadly this hasn't worked. I've contacted Currys (the store I purchased it from) and they've directed me to HP to get it repaired.

HP Customer Services are sending me a new printer. I appreciate the reply but 'turn it off and on again' was.... limited.
