MFP M278-M281 Color LaserJet Pro

All printout, including the test page, are printing way too light. The cartridges are brand-new (bought from HP) and NOT damaged. I've followed all of the online instructions and nothing is resolving the issue. I would appreciate help fixing this please.

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Before changing the ink, was it printing well? If yes, it could be a defective set of ink and I would recommend you to contact the HP Support Team.

regarding a replacement set.

Hi,

Yes, it was printing fine before changing the ink. There is nothing wrong with the ink. I followed the instructions on the help pages and inspected the ink. In fact, I bought another brand-new set thinking it may have been an issue with the cartridges. Same results ... printing too light.

I attempted to contract HP support and was redirect (consistently) to this community. The printer is no longer under warranty, so I guess the only options for support are this.

Thanks!

Hi,

I did all of that ... several times ... plus, I followed the instructions in the user manual about adjusting contrast in the web UI. None of that worked. Then, I ordered new cartridges to replace the new cartridges I previously bought. Same results. So, it's not the cartridges and any troubleshooting instructions I found did not help. Thanks.

I recommend you to contact the HP Support Team regarding this as this could be a hardware issue.

Hi,

I called a local HP printer service provider. It does appear to be a hardware issue. Unfortunately, it seems the repairs will cost more than the printer. We'll see what the quote comes back at.

Thanks!
