HP OfficeJet Pro 8710 All-in-One Printer

I am looking for help on my HP Officejet 8710 Pro All-in-One Printer.   I have noticed that my printer will not allow me to make changes to my printer setup.   I can't update Ethernet, Wireless Connections, or Reset Network settings.  I came to a conclusion that this happened after one of the updates from either Windows, or Maybe it was a device update through AVG.  I have checked with my tech friends, and they have no idea why this is happening.  The SETUP is blocked out or grayed out. and when selected, I have been getting the message:

"This feature has been locked by the person who set up the printer."

Looking into past community help... All I see is that.    Well send you a private message to manual reset printer.   So, I am writing to get that private message so that I can reset my printer.

Thank you.

Hi @JoeyW1968,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If the features on your HP OfficeJet 8710 Pro printer are locked by a user, it means that certain settings or options have been restricted or password-protected by the printer administrator or someone with administrative access. This is typically done to prevent unauthorized changes to the printer's configuration.

To unlock the features, you will need to obtain the administrator password or contact the person who locked the features. They should be able to provide you with the necessary credentials to access and modify the settings.

If you are the administrator and have forgotten the password or are unable to unlock the features, you may need to perform a factory reset on the printer. Keep in mind that a factory reset will erase all customized settings and return the printer to its default configuration.

To perform a factory reset on the HP OfficeJet 8710 Pro, follow these steps.

  1. Make sure the printer is turned on.
  2. On the printer control panel, touch the "Setup" button (the wrench icon).
  3. From the Setup menu, scroll down and select "Printer Maintenance."
  4. Scroll down again and select "Restore" or "Reset."
  5. Choose the option to restore the printer to factory defaults.
  6. Confirm the reset by following the on-screen prompts.

After the reset is complete, the features should be unlocked, and you can reconfigure the printer settings as needed.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
