I think I know the answer, as I had a customer have the same problem.

Small insects.

We have had a lot of wet weather triggering a rush of small insects. When customer turns off the big lights in their warehouse the small insects are looking for another source of light. The touch screen on the OfficeJet 8620/8630 is quite sensitive and I suspect they might be triggering it.

Could be wrong, but this literal 'bug' might be the cause.

Sorry...no bugs.   This has been going on pretty much since the first day I acquired this printer.  This is CLEARLY a software problem that HP refuses to address.

has anyone found any answer to this problem - I'm still getting Printer Status Reports - Now the damned thing connected me to the web - and I don't want to be connected to the web, nor do I want 8 copes of HP Network Configuration Page - what the heck is wrong with Hewlett Packard

I have the same problem. Officejet 8620 with latest firmware printing unexpected reports at night. Over 2 years and still no solution does not look the tiniest bit promising though....

Hi! @MCMooo, Welcome to HP forums.

I understand your printer is printing multiple unwanted status reports.

Don't worry I'll try to help you out.

Did you make any changes to your printer?

As you mentioned even after updating the printer firmware the issue still persists.

Try performing semi full reset on your printer and check if it helps.

Since the steps to perform semi full reset is confidential, I will send you the steps in a private message. Please watch your inbox for more information.

Hope this helps! 🙂

Have a great day!
