Microsoft Windows 11

printer HP Office 4630

computer HP Pavillion 595-POXX

system Windows11 Home 21H2

Since we upgraded the computer to Windows11 the printer came off-line and interrupted its activity. When we install the latest drivers, then the printer starts working again. After a few days it´s off-line again. I also updated the firmware...

Do you know any cause?

Thank you for posting on the HP Support Community.

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, I appreciate your efforts to try and resolve the issue.

Let's try these steps to resolve the issue:

Prepare your printer for a wireless connection, restart the printer, computer, and router.

  1. Turn the printer off, and then wait 10 seconds.

  2. Disconnect the printer power cord from the printer.

  3. Turn off the computer or the device you are trying to print from.

  4. Connect the printer power cord to the printer, and then turn on the printer.

  5. Disconnect the power cord from your wireless router, and then wait 10 seconds.

  6. Reconnect the power cord to the router. Wait until Internet service is restored. Internet service is interrupted while the router is off.

  7. Turn on the computer.

And, also Download and run HP Print and Scan Doctor: Follow steps from the link: Click here

Sorry, sorry, but I forgot to mention we use the printer connected with a USB cable.

Is it possible this printer is not compatible with Windows11?

Let's try these steps to resolve the issue:

Download and run HP Print and Scan Doctor: Follow steps from the link: Click here

Root level uninstall and reinstall printer drivers:

  • Go to Control panel – Programs and feature – Select all the HP Officejet printer entries and uninstall them.
  • Now go to Control panel – Devices and printer – Select all the printer entries and remove the device.
  • Then press the "windows key" + "r" to get the "Run" window open - Type "printui.exe /s" and press enter.
  • Under print server properties, go to drivers - remove any entry there as well.
  • Again, go to run window, type – “c:/programdata” – Go to Hewlett Packard folder, remove any printer related folders & files.

To reinstall, click here.

You can´t believe it.

I ran  Print Doctor solving problems. Solution: you have to choose Fax Officejet 4630 as standard printer. I admitted the proposal and the printer started printing the test page in the printing task list.

So I looked up  the printer in the list of available printers and saw the Fax Officejet 4630 was the standard printer and all other printers were marked READY. Then I changed and took Officejet 4630 as the new standard printer. All other printers were READY, exept Officejet 4630 , which was NOT READY and I couldn´t print anything.

CONCLUSION: I have to set Fax Officejet 4630 as standard printer and then I can print all tasks choosing Officejet 4630 .

Who can explain this solution presented by  Print Doctor???

It looks like Windows11 chooses a standard printer and you better don´t change it. Printing a file you can choose your connected printer and it works...

I would also mention the desktop we are using, works with 4 accounts for Windows11.

I installed the HP printer on the account with administrator rights, but tried to print with another account and there started printing problems...
