I have just bought an HP 250 all-in-one printer. The Auto-off feature is not disabled when the printer is connected to my network, although the instructions say it will be. So it turns itself off. I need it on, but in sleep mode all the time and to be able to turn it off and on when I want not when it wants.

So how do I disable this irritating function?!

I have tried setting and different time and pressing no - but it ignores my 'no'.

I have tried reinstalling factory settings - made no difference.

And it does switch off when connected to my network whatever the instructions say.

Please help someone.

What is the point of being able, for example, to email something to the machine to print if the machine is turned off!!

Welcome to the HP Forums. I would be happy to help you with your HP OfficeJet 250 Mobile Printer. I understand that you want to turn of the Auto-Off function on the printer and you have already done some preliminary troubleshooting.

Don't worry though as I have a few steps to determine the issue and find a solution as well.

1.From the printer control panel, touch or swipe down the tab at the top of the screen to open the Dashboard, and then touch (Setup).

2. Touch Power Management, and then Auto-Off.

3. Choose an inactivity time period from the list. A messages shows up, prompting you whether to always enable Auto-Off.

4. Touch Yes. Auto-Off is enabled.

5.You can change it to never to disable the Auto-Off.

Let me know if that helps.

Cheers.

Hi Vollwood,

You may want to follow the step below:

  1. Make sure the printer is connected to network

 2. Go to dashboard>settings>Power Management>Auto Off>select 20 minutes> Upon selection, select NO on the prompt
