I have an HP OfficeJet 3830 that won't scan using my HP Envy Notebook LAPTOP-KC12K8SB
I am using Windows 10, 64-bit x64 based
I can't use the scan function and I've been trying to troubleshoot all day including Print & Scan Doctor, Uninstall and Reinstall software, hard reset, troubleshooter on my computer and absolutely everything I can think of or find on the internet with nothing working.
I have not recently made any changes other than I've had MANY issues with printing and scanning to the point where I had to run the print and scan doctor EVERY day just to be able to print documents.
Currently, when I try to scan from the printer, my computer gives me the following message "HP Scan Unable to Communicate with the scanner. Try the following: 1. Turn the product off and then on again. 2. Make sure all cables are securely connector OR make sure your wireless connection is working. 3. Verify that the scan feature is enabled. If the above steps do not resolve the issue, click "Fix" to run HP Print and Scan Doctor and automatically fix these problems."
I have done all of those steps and it does not work.
My printer gives me the following error message:
"One or more of the following problems has prevented the scan from being completed: The connection to the computer ha been lost. The scan application on the computer is currently in use. An OCR application is not installed on the computer. Check the computer for more information."
I am at a complete loss as to what to do now????

Hi @sherinowlan
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
As I understand, there's an issue while scanning. Don't worry, I'd be happy to help.
To better assist you -
1) Are you experiencing this issue while making a copy as well?
2) How's the printer connected - wired or wireless?
While you respond to that, try these steps to reset the printer -
1) Take out the cartridges.
2) Unplug the power cord from the printer & wall.
3) Wait for 30 seconds.
4) Plug the power cord back into the printer and wall, ensure the printer is plugged into the wall & not to a surge protector.
5) Insert the cartridges back into the printer.
Also, try updating the printer's firmware - HP Printers - Updating or Upgrading Printer Firmware
If the issue still persists, try these steps -
Open HP Printer Assistant > Click on Scan and disable the option - "Manage Scan to Computer" and re-enable it.
Reboot the printer and the computer and try scanning.
You may also try these steps.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
