My printer suddenly broke. The error message is: There is a problem with the printer or ink system. Turn printer off, then on. If problem persists, contact HP. 0x61011bed. I powered down and unplugged then powered on three times and the error persists. I am unable to actually change out the ink cartridges as when I open the door it messages me to close it, then tries to print (when there are no docs in queue).
My question is whether this issue can be fixed or does the community recommend I abandon this printer and purchase a new one?

Welcome to the HP support community.
Reseat the printhead up to three times
-
Open the door to access to the ink cartridges.
-
Wait until the carriage stops moving before you continue.
-
Unplug the power cord from the rear of the printer.
WARNING:
You must disconnect the power cord before reaching inside the printer.
-
Lift the carriage latch, slightly lift the printhead, lower the printhead back into the carriage, wiggle the printhead left and right, and then lower the carriage latch to lock the printhead into place.
-
Close the ink cartridge access door.
-
Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer, and then check the control panel for the error message.
-
Sometimes error messages persist after inserting the printhead. If the error message persists, repeat the steps to reseat the printhead up to three times.

I appreciate the possible solution very much. My printhead does not have a carriage latch. I did wiggle the printhead a little plus take all the ink cartridges out and put them back in, but I still get the error code. I have a lot of partially used and unused ink for this printer and wondered what suggested there are to get some of my money back on the ink as I think I'll need to purchase a new printer. Thank you.

I also have an Officejet 6600 and it will not print, getting an error code.
It says the printer cartridge is damaged. I have replaced them and it still won't print. I did use non HP cartridges for some time. Do I need to get the printer repaired in person? And is there an HP authorized repairer? Los Angeles.
