Microsoft Windows 10 (32-bit)

I am very disappointed in the results of my recent purchase of replacement cartridges for my HP OfficeJet 6700 Premium Printer,

My order was fulfilled in a timely manner, but the ink cartridges do not work. The printer gives an error message: "Missing or failed printhead. The printhead appears to be missing, not detected, or incorrectly installed."
I spoke to a very unhelpful and unsympathetic Customer Support Technician named Kim who basically told me my printer is useless. He chuckled several times, seemingly amused that the printer even turned on.  Is this the level of quality of HP products, that a Technician chuckles at the very possibility of a 12 year old printer being actually turned on when the power button is pressed?  Funny-not-funny, right?

I purchased the printer in 2012, and used it infrequently due to the cost of replacement cartridges.

Recently, I purchased replacement cartridges from the HP website nd received them on January 24, 2022.  The Customer Support Technician told me I "should have contacted HP before purchasing the cartridges".
Not sure what can be done but I'd at least like a refund for the cost of cartridges.

Thanks for reading and any advice is most gratefully appreciated.
