HP OfficeJet Pro 9015 All-in-One Printer

Hi,

I've recently been experiencing some issues with my OfficeJet 9015 printer.  I have been unable to do anything with it as it is stuck in a loop.  When I power it on, or even after resetting it, the screen comes up saying that the ink cartridges can only be used in an enrolled printer.  This printer is registered in my Instant Ink account and I've been merrily using it for months, if not years.  If you choose to hide this message, I am forced to agree to print an alignment page.  This never progresses and I'm stuck.  None of the methods I've seen to resolve this have worked.  I've seen a couple of responses from HP employees reaching out to provide a 'method' for resetting this situation.  I don't have any non instant ink cartridges to try to get the printer beyond this point...  please help.  The printer seems to be in an odd state, I can't even reinstall the software on Windows 11.

On the basis that the issue didn't occur as soon as I'd upgraded to Windows 11, and appeared a few days after, I looked at the Windows Update history.  It could be that 22H2 update for Windows 11 has caused this, dunno https://www.ghacks.net/2022/11/02/windows-11-22h2-network-printing-switched-to-rcp-over-tcp/

Okay.  Having had a bit of a fight and being on the verge of buying another printer, things are looking a little more positive.

The sequence of events for anyone facing similar issues..

A few weeks ago I upgraded my PC to Windows 11; this could be a complete coincidence because I was able to print the very next day.

The next time I came to use the printer, the full function software would not work.

I tried to run set-up, and add a printer to Windows 11 but nothing worked.

Resetting the printer resulted in images I've mentioned below, stuck in a print alignment loop.

Last night I left the printer disconnected for the second consecutive night and changed some printer web services options to see if this could force it back to life.  Numerous attempts to the HP Easy Start and Smart resulted in the printer not being found.  Then, as if by magic, the process ran.  I had to connect the printer by USB.  At all times during this exercise I've been able to reach the printer via its static IP address, so the network connection has been fine and the ethernet cable is okay.

I'm no wiser why this is now working, and I've got little condfidence in it working for any period of time.

So, ultimately, if you face the same problem and have the time, it might be worth persevering; trying to reset the printer and web services.  How the printer ink became unenrolled in Instant Ink I'll never know.  I used to praise instant ink, but I'm not so sure now.

After leaving the printer unplugged for the second night in a row, and changing the settings for web services, the printer has almost come back to life.  It is not talking to HP home base and the cartridges are now registered again.

My next issue is that I'm trying to install the full feature software, as I'm not happy with the limited functionality of the HP Smart app.  I am using the HP Easy Start software which initially finds my printer and prompts me to download the full software.  Unfortunately, the next step '' does not find the printer that previously was found, so I'm currently stuck with the HP Smart app.  I'm going uninstall the printer from Windows 11 and start from scratch.  I'll update this question with any progress I make...
