I replaced all of the correct model ink cartridges over the weekend. I've run printer maintenance (including Clean the Printhead 3x). The printer will not print black ink. Only colors.
My operating system is macOS Sonoma version 14.6.1
I'm not sure what else to do. Please help!

Hi @cboyd90,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand you've done a lot of troubleshooting already. Here are a few additional steps you can try to resolve the issue with black ink not printing:
Check Ink Levels: Ensure that the black ink cartridge is properly installed and has enough ink. Sometimes, even new cartridges can have issues.
Print Head Alignment: Perform a print head alignment. This can often resolve issues where certain colors aren't printing correctly.
- Go to the printer’s control panel or HP Smart app.
- Look for an option to align the printhead and follow the on-screen instructions.
Check for Blockages: Ensure that there are no blockages or dried ink in the printhead. You can use a soft, lint-free cloth to clean the printhead gently.
Update Printer Firmware: Check if there's a firmware update available for your printer. Sometimes, updating the firmware can resolve printing issues. Update the firmware on an HP printer
- Go to the HP website and search for your printer model to see if there's a firmware update.
Reset Printer Settings: Try performing a factory reset on the printer. This can sometimes resolve persistent issues.
- Refer to your printer’s manual for instructions on how to perform a factory reset.
Try Different Paper Types: Ensure you are using the right type of paper for your printer and that it's loaded correctly.
