Officejet Pro 8610

My Officejet Pro 8610 home printer has suddenly indicated a Printer Failure screen, highlighting a problem with the printer or ink system.

The printer is networked to both MS 8/10 and IOS devices.

It has been used lightly though regularly and has never been difficult. I have tried switch off/on routines repeatedly and confirmed ink levels across all cartridges as high. I have also run a web software update and this completely successfully. Sadly without making any difference to the headline status.

Will appreciate any suggestions and tips towards a fix

Welcome to the HP support community.

Reseat the printhead up to three times

  1. Open the door to access to the ink cartridges.

  2. Wait until the carriage stops moving before you continue.

  3. Unplug the power cord from the rear of the printer.

       WARNING:

You must disconnect the power cord before reaching inside the printer.

  4. Lift the carriage latch, slightly lift the printhead, lower the printhead back into the carriage, wiggle the printhead left and right, and then lower the carriage latch to lock the printhead into place.

  5. Close the ink cartridge access door.

  6. Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer, and then check the control panel for the error message.

  7. Sometimes error messages persist after inserting the printhead. If the error message persists, repeat the steps to reseat the printhead up to three times.

Thank you Sandy for your suggestions. Very informative and I’ve now tried 3 times to adjust the seating of the printhead alas without it providing the solution ...so far.

I will now need to consider the replacement printhead purchase if I can find a reasonably priced option as the printer is otherwise in vgc and still only c2000 copies since new. Does HP stock these parts or do you know of other third party supply options?

Kind regards
