I had the exact same problem that came up in exactly the same way - replaced an ink cartridge and then got the missing, not detected error. I have run through the reset procedure at least 6 times and still get the error. Like the original questioner, I am now looking at replacing a $90 part on a printer that only cost me ~$100 (Costco), not to mention the $60 ink that is now unused because of the broken printhead. I am unwilling to spend the money to replace the printhead because I have no guarantee that the part will actually fix the problem and they all seem to be non-returnable. Then I'd be out even more money. I am not a happy HP customer at this point either.

1) Click on this link - www.hp.com/contacthp/
2) Select your product type below.
3) Enter the serial of your device.
4) Select the country from the drop-down.
5) Select the appropriate option based on your preference.
6) Fill the web-form and proceed further.
