OfficeJet Pro 8710
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

About a month ago the printer started crashing every few hours.

  • firmware is current
  • no pending jobs from any PC print queues
  • With the unit unplugged, opened all panels, looked for debris, and then blew out with canned air
  • All three color cartridges were low, so I replaced them and reseated the black cartridge

I’m having the same issue, unplugging from the what has had no effect. Will have to try factory reset. Seems to be a common problem these days, HP any proper solution for this?

I only found one reference to a 'B8' code - on this forum - but that referenced a problem with an obstructed carriage. Since the crashes never occurred during active print jobs but only after the printer sat idle for a few hours, my theory was that there was something up with the web services. My printer is out of warranty so I couldn't submit a support ticket to HP.

Update: two days without a crash after I did a "Restore Factory Defaults".

Good luck!

What do you mean a Factory reset on printer.  How do you do that

I have the same issue.  I push the power button and, after restart, everything works fine.  After a few hours of inactivity, the same error reappears.   I'm trying the factory reset.

Factory reset has fixed the issue for me, been fine for quite a few days now.

Do factory settings reset through your printer, should resolve problem. My 8710 is working properly now.
