re: HP OfficeJet Pro 9025e All-in-One tray select.
I'm happy with the printer; however whenever I print a photo and the printer selects the alternate tray; I can't get the printer back to selecting the main tray for normal printing. I've tried the auto, Main and alternate tray select and the printer insists on selecting the empty alternate tray. I have removed printer with the same results. I wound up connecting printer with network cat cable to finally get the printer to select the main tray. I figure there has to be something simple that I am missing

Hi @AllanP,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand you've tried a few troubleshooting steps already, but let's see if we can find a solution together. Here are a few additional steps you can try:
- Reset the printer: Sometimes, resetting the printer to its default settings can resolve such issues. Look for a reset option in the printer's menu or consult the user manual for instructions on how to reset it.
- Check the paper settings: Make sure that the paper settings in your printing software or driver match the settings of the main tray. Sometimes, if the paper size or type is set differently, the printer may prefer another tray.
- Inspect the main tray: Ensure that there are no issues with the main tray such as misalignment or paper jams that might be causing the printer to avoid using it.
- Update firmware/drivers: Ensure that your printer's firmware and drivers are up to date. Sometimes, outdated firmware or drivers can cause unexpected behavior.Update the firmware on an HP printer

Thank you for your help.
I tried firmware update and it couldn't connect to the server. I had to do a factory reset once before when I had initiated the firewall which screwed everything up. I think the factory reset was to choose something on the printer display then tap four times. However is that something i should have to do every time I print a photo from the alternate tray; to get back to normal printing?
