HP OfficeJet Pro 9125e All-in-One Printer
Microsoft Windows 11

Ordered a replacement printer, and instructions said to replace the print/printer head with the old one. The old printer will not turn on properly - every time I have tried to turn it on, and remove the printer head it will not work. The screen constantly cycles through a display of the hp logo with the (cartridge color) dots cycling beneath it. Since I cannot get past this screen on my old printer, I cannot remove the printer head and install it into my new/replacement printer. The old printer and printer head won't slide over to the middle without making it past this screen so I have no way of removing it.

Hi @iii7,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your printer!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Try these steps:

Power Reset:

  • Disconnect the power cord from the back of the printer.
  • Unplug the power cable from the wall outlet.
  • Wait at least 60 seconds.
  • Reconnect the power cable to the wall outlet and the printer.
  • Try to power on the printer again.

Check for Hardware Issues:

  • Ensure no paper jams or obstructions inside the printer. These can cause startup failures.
  • Try to remove and reseat the ink cartridges to see if the printer responds differently.

Firmware Recovery:

  • If possible, perform a firmware update if the printer briefly connects properly. A corrupted firmware can cause boot issues.
  • You might need HP Support's assistance for firmware recovery if you cannot access printer settings.

I hope this helps.
