The printer isn't pulling the envelopes down.  Printer works fine with regular paper.  Anyone know why this is happening?

The printer does not support the A8 envelope. Refer to the Supported Envelopes section in the Printer Specifications for HP OfficeJet 3830, DeskJet 3830, 5730 All-in-One Printers document.

I hope that answers your concern adequately. Let me know!

@jiggerjaw, Welcome to HP Support Community!

To be able to assist you better, I'd like to know the following-

  • What is the Operating System installed on the printer?
  • Is there any error message on the printer or the computer?
  • Have you tried checking the tray settings on the printer and the computer?

Keep me posted for further assistance.

The envelopes are roughly size A8 ( 139.7mm x 206.375mm ). There are two sizes, neither seems to be exactly the measurements of a standard envelope. They are custom wedding invitation envelopes.  One is [ 200mm x 138mm ] and the other is [ 193mm x 135mm ].

My computer is  Windows 10, I'm trying to print with Photoshop. I go to "Print Settings" -> "Paper/Quality" -> "Advanced" -> "Paper Size"

There is no option for A8 (see attached image).  I've tried C5 and C6  (one size above and below my envelope size) along with trying to print on a 5x8 index card.

There is no error message.  The printer tries to print, grabs the envelope, pulls it down a little bit, but then can't seem to pull the envelope all the way into the printer.  According to the website (https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c04648026) my printer should be able to print on envelopes.  I followed what it says to do (remove all other paper, load the envelope, line the paper guide up with the left edge).

Forgot to mention...  It doesn't seem like there's a way to change paper size on the actual printer.  It all seems to be handled through the software.
