HP Officejet 4620
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have a HP Officejet 4620, I only need to print in black ink. The color cartridges are empty, the black is a full, new HP cartridge. It is not printing the complete page in Black only. I have set the print to be Black/or grayscale. Is it required to have the other color cartridges with ink so the printer will work, even if only printing using black ink?

Thank you for posting on the HP Support Community.

This particular printer is designed to print only when all ink cartridges have ink. A little ink from all the ink cartridges is used in periodic servicing tasks. This helps to prevent issues such as printhead clogs and poor print quality. If one or more colour ink cartridges are low but not empty and you want to minimize the use of colour ink, you can change the settings in the HP software to print with black ink only (grayscale). Even if you change the print settings to print with black ink only, the other ink cartridges must still have ink in them in order for the printer to print. Note you must have the full feature printer software installed on your computer. Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.
