HP Officejet 5740 All in one printer

I just got a new computer, an Acer Swift 3, and now my printer doesn't have the proper connectivity to print any pages. On my macbook the printer worked fine but now in order to print ANY page on my Acer I have to launch the HP Print and Scan Doctor before printing every single time. Sometimes I have to run the doctor two times in a row to be able to print one page. It doesn't fix the issue because afterwards I still can't print unless I run it again. 

 

My printer is connected to my wifi network. And I even tried installing the drivers again and nothing changed. I also tried restoring the network settings on the printer itself, and nothing changed. I still can't print. 

 

My print queue says "HP Officejet 5740 Series (Network) - Attention Required"

 

I have no idea what I need to fix in order for my printer to actually function properly. It's frustrating. Please help because I'm in college and I have all online classes now so I need my printer now more than ever and this is a never ending battle to print a single page.

Restart the wireless router, the printer, and the PC

  • Make sure the printer and the PC are connected to the same wireless network.
  • This printer supports only 2.4GHz network. So, the PC should be on the 2.4GHz network.
  • If you have a Dual-band router and both 2.4GHz and 5GHz networks share the same name/SSID, the printer will not be able to connect to the network. In this case, contact your Internet service provider to assign different names to both the networks.

Install the printer using the TCP/IP port:

  1. On the PC, go to Control panel > Devices and printers > Add a printer(at the top) 
  2. Under 'Choose a device or printer', click on 'The printer I want isn't listed'.
  3. Select 'Add a printer using a TCP/IP address'
  4. Find the IP address of the printer by tapping on the wireless/ethernet icon on the printer screen
  5. Type in the 'IP address in Hostname or IP address' box, click next
  6. Proceed to the next steps by following the on-screen instructions.
  7. Try printing.

If the issue persists, Install the printer using Windows built-in driver

Restarting the router, printer, and PC didn't do anything.

BUT, installing the printer using the TCP/IP port did work! Thank you.
