I have this HP Officejet 6700 Premium printer. Suddenly it is displaying an error message - There is a problem with the printer or ink system. Turn printer off, then on. If problem persists, contact HP."
Tried to reset it but it wakes up to the same message.
I see there are some fixes suggested with is a factory reset? Can someone provide me the steps to do that and hopefully save the printer?

Hi @abhi1230,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your HP OfficeJet 6700 Premium is showing the error message "There is a problem with the printer or ink system," and you’ve already tried power cycling and resetting without success, performing a factory reset might help resolve the issue. Here’s a detailed guide on how to perform a factory reset:
1. Perform a Factory Reset on the HP OfficeJet 6700 Premium
Note: A factory reset will restore the printer to its original settings and will remove any custom configurations or network settings.
Power On the Printer:
- Make sure your printer is powered on. If it is off, press the power button to turn it on.
Access the Printer's Control Panel:
- On the printer’s control panel, touch the “Setup” icon (it usually looks like a wrench or a gear).
Navigate to the Settings Menu:
- In the Setup menu, look for “Printer Maintenance” or “Tools” (the exact menu name may vary slightly).
Select “Restore Factory Defaults”:
- In the Printer Maintenance or Tools menu, select “Restore Factory Defaults” or “Restore Defaults”.
- Confirm your selection when prompted. The printer will initiate the reset process and may restart.
Complete the Reset Process:
- Wait for the printer to complete the reset process. This might take a few minutes.
Reconfigure Printer Settings:
- After the reset, you will need to reconfigure your printer settings, including network settings and any custom configurations.
2. Additional Troubleshooting Steps
If a factory reset does not resolve the issue, try these additional steps:
Check Ink Cartridges:
- Ensure that the ink cartridges are properly installed and that there are no obstructions. Remove and reinstall the cartridges if necessary.
- Check for any visible damage to the cartridges or printhead.
Clean the Printhead:
- Perform a printhead cleaning using the printer’s built-in cleaning function. This can often be accessed through the Printer Maintenance or Tools menu.
Inspect for Paper Jams:
- Ensure there are no paper jams or debris inside the printer that could be causing issues.
Update Printer Firmware:
- Check if there are any available firmware updates for your printer on the HP Support website. Updating the firmware can sometimes resolve system errors.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.

The proces is right, but impossible to execute because the message "Something is wrong with the printer or with the inksystem'" freezes the panel. Before this message that I have now I resetted the printer to his -out-of-the-box settings, performed the hidden resetmenu's and all the stuff from all help instructions, but nothing helped. I still have the error and the printer is frozen.
