HP Officejet 7612
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

I have a problem with my 7612 printer. I will try to describe what is going on.

I noticed that orange color on paper is not orange but mostly just magenta and is missing yellow. Sometimes in the beginning orange is replaced in stripes with magenta. I've tried to print a test page and there was a lot white lines in the samples, so I cleaned the heads. The problem goes away for cca. two pages and then returns and I have to clean the heads again and that is not productive.

I've also tried to test print a full page with three stripes of cyan, yellow and magenta. It prints flawlessly and after that I can again print cca. two pages and then I get the same problem. If I print the test page again, I can again print cca. two pages OK and then problem repeats itslef.

How can I solve this? Is it just yellow cartridge problem or maybe print heads need manual cleaning?

@GregaJ,

Thank you for joining HP Forums.

It's a pleasure assisting you in finding answers to your technical queries.

To provide you with an accurate solution, I'll need a few more details:

Are you using genuine HP Ink cartridge?

Was any hardware or software change made in the printer?

Are you facing the same issue while copying?

While you answer the above question, I suggest you do a Hard Reset

(1) Turn the printer on, if it is not already on.

(2) Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you continue.

(3) With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.

(4) Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.

(5) Wait at least 60 seconds.

(6) Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.

NOTE: HP recommends connecting the printer power cord directly to the wall outlet.

(7) Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.

(8) Turn on the printer, if it does not automatically turn on.

The printer might go through a warm-up period. The printer lights might flash, and the carriage might move.

Wait until the warm-up period finishes and your printer is idle and silent before you proceed.

Follow the solution in this link: https://support.hp.com/us-en/product/hp-officejet-7610-wide-format-e-all-in-one-series/5153788/model...

If the issue persists, it could be a hardware issue with the Printhead.

Keep me posted, how it goes!

Hello,

I'v tried your solution with Hard Reset and it looks it worked. It's curentlly printing very good. I can't imagine how could this affect printing directly.

To answer your questions:

1) I'm using genuine HP cartridges, but I refill them, when the colors start to get bad. They were full during my problems.

2) No hardware or software changes were made to the printer.

3) I don't copy directly so I don't know. I usually scan and then print on other printer, because this printer is mainly used for A3 format.

Thanks for now and I will get back if the problem repeats.
