Product: HP Officejet 8040

When I try to print from my iPad or iPhone, it starts to print, then stops, all lights flash, there is an error message that tells me to turn off my printer but none of the buttons are operational.  It prints fine from my laptop.  I checked network connectivity and everything is marked as pass and it has the correct network name.  The option is to unplug.  After several attempts, now it won't even try to print anything from my iPhone

I'd like to help!

 

 

Try the below suggestions -

  1. Uninstall HP Smart 
  2. Try updating iOS and printer firmware
  3. Install HP Smart from the APP store 

To update the printer's firmware, refer - HP Printers - Updating or Upgrading Printer Firmware 

To update ios, try these steps -Update your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
