Hello, I was having trouble initially with my scanner working on my printer and so updated the programming through a download found online which did correct the scanner. However, soon thereafter my printer stopped working and I am still getting an error message reading "No paper detected" when I try to print. I tried updated the programming again and cleaning the spool wheels with lint-free dust cloth, but was not able to find a fix for the problem. Is there anything else I should try or is this error something that might be a mechanical problem that is easilty servicable or is it time to buy a new printer?
Thank you so much!

Thank you for joining HP Forums.
It's a pleasure assisting you in finding answers to your technical queries.
To provide you with an accurate solution, I'll need a few more details:
Is the copy working fine?
Could you please help me with the operating system of the computer?
While you answer the above, I suggest you do a Hard Reset
(1) Turn the printer on, if it is not already on.
(2) Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you continue.
(3) With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
(4) Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
(5) Wait at least 60 seconds.
(6) Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.
NOTE: HP recommends connecting the printer power cord directly to the wall outlet.
(7) Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.
(8) Turn on the printer, if it does not automatically turn on.
The printer might go through a warm-up period. The printer lights might flash, and the carriage might move.
Wait until the warm-up period finishes and your printer is idle and silent before you proceed.
Update the firmware for the printer using this link: https://support.hp.com/us-en/product/hp-officejet-j4500-j4600-all-in-one-printer-series/3645081/mode...
Restart the printer and try to scan.
Keep me posted, how it goes!
Have a great day!
Cheers:)

Hello and thank you so much for your help!
The scanner is actually working but the printer is not working. I am getting an error message that says that there is no paper detected- load paper and press OK. And there is paper in the feed. I did the download of firmware as you suggested and did the hard reset as you suggested. Still I am getting the same error message. :{ Do you recommend any more advice?
