Need a little help on a family printer issue.  The printer prints via USB directly, but has lost the ability to print via Wifi or Airprint.  It was working before but has just stopped recently.  Other devices (iPad, iPhone, Macbook) cannot print wirelessly.  Here's somethings that I've tried:

- Reinstalled HP Drivers/Software

- Checked Wifi Router for changes (ad hoc, etc)

- Updated to the latest MacOS

The printer does hook to the wifi and got the latest updates, so it is working on the network.

Any other suggestions to try?

Thanks in advance!

Welcome to HP Forums, I see that you are getting printer connectivity issues.

What's the make and model of your WiFi router?

Do you have any antivirus software installed on your Mac?

Do you have a guest network enabled on your WiFi router?

Approximately how far is the printer located from the WiFi router?

Could you check for WiFi interference and also perform a ping test using the Mac Network Utility and let me know the results. Use the printer IP address to perform a ping test, the printer IP can be located by touching the wireless icon on the printer display.

Reply with the requested information for more assistance.

Hi Sandytechy,

- No Antivirus

- No guest network

- ATT Router (UVerse standard, don't know model number)

- Printer is located less than 20ft away.

- I was able to ping the printer via terminal, but this is at a family members house and don't have the results.

I did take a picture of the Config page with the stats and have it attached to see if that will help.  The issue was happening on High Sierra, so I updated to see if it would help but no change.  IMG_0542.JPGIMG_0543.JPGI was able to get HP Direct printing activated for her in the meantime until I can get back over there.

Thanks for the reply.

I appreciate your time and effort.

I made a research and see that this printer driver can be installed using HP Easy Start.

  1. Turn on the printer.

  2. If your printer is connected to the computer with a USB cable, disconnect the cable from the printer. The software installation prompts you to connect the cable if needed.

  3. Click here to download HP Easy Start.

  4. If a Let's identify your product to get started page displays, click Printer, type your printer model number, and then click Submit.

The software results page for your printer displays with the default operating system selected.

  5. If you need to change the operating system, click Change, select your version, and then click Change.

  6. Click Download next to HP Easy Start or next to the full feature driver, depending on the option that displays.

  7. Open the Downloads folder, and then open the HP Easy Start file or the full feature driver .dmg file to begin the installation.

  8. Follow the on-screen instructions to set up the printer connection and install the software.

  9. If you are prompted to add the printer to the printer queue, click the name of your printer, click the Use or Print Using menu, select the name of your printer in the pop-up menu, and then click Add.

Select your printer name in the Use menu on the Add screen

  10. Return to the HP installer to complete the installation.

Let me know if that helps.

Hi Sandy!

The original setup had "Airprint" as the selected driver, so I uninstalled all drivers and printers both from System Preferences and via the user folder.  I then reinstalled the full HP software and selected the 6968 driver instead of Airprint.  Still have the same results.  Again, I could always print via USB, but cannot print via wireless from other MacOS devices (also Windows devices).  Thanks for you help!

Thanks for the reply.

I appreciate and effort and time.

I understood the issue better now.

Did you check if the printer is conencted to 2.4GHz bandwidth on the router.

If not, login to your router user manual and check if it set to 2.4GHz.

Check youse router user manual to login to router page.

Let me know if that helps.
