I tried an off-brand ink cartridge in my HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus. After I got warning messages from the printer, I installed new HP ink cartridges. After I closed the printer door, the printer acknowledged the new HP cartridges and showed full ink levels. A few moments later the printer seemed to reboot and then indicated two of the new cartridges had an "ink cartridge failure". I re-installed the previous low ink level HP cartridges and the printer indicated previously used HP cartridges with low ink level... all good, right... a few moments later, the printer seemed to reboot and again, showed the cyan & yellow cartridges had an "ink cartridge failure". I followed the HP recommended steps, including a re-boot, but the problem persists... please advise...
