Dear All
I would like help with the issue below.
When I purchased my Officejet Pro 8710 a few years ago, it was opening automatically the output tray extension (arm) everytime I was printing. This helped particularly in paper not dropping on the floor after being printed.
For some time (>6m) I did not use the printer after that. Now when I resumed using it, I noticed that I need to open the tray extension/arm manually as it does not come out automatically anymore when I print.
I tried so far the following:
- Removed the output tray and greased with food grade grease the rails on the tray extension as it was moving very difficultly - i did put little grease and made sure none leaked.
- Checked that nothing is stuck underneath after removing the paper tray too and inspecting the bottom - in fact I did not notice any levers which should be pushing the tray out so started wondering how it was opening automatically before..
- Power restarted the machine - removed the power cord from the back, waited for more than 30s and then plugged it back in directly connected to the socket without any surge protectors etc
- Updated to the most recent firmware
None of the above solved the problem.
Apart from this, the printer operates normally, prints/scans like new and paper moves without jams.
Thanks in advance for your help.
