Even though HP said I had all current software and drivers then pointing to possible issue my PACE router, I started comparing installed HP software and drivers versus what was on the HP support site and found under FIRMWARE there was a newer version than what was installed on the 8710 printer itself.

Hi, with regard to to my HP Pro 8710 not waking up from sleep mode, unless I turn it on and off first to print a document, I have tried making the static IP address and updating the firmware driver. This has NOT fixed the problem for me! I am using Windows 7, 64 bit on a Dell Latitude E6430s.
