My HP Officejet Pro 9010 Printer/Scanner/Copier has been working fine for several years. All of a sudden, the paper won't feed for any job. I have plenty of paper in the tray and the printer runs as if it's about to print, but the paper doesn't end up feeding. It doesn't get jammed, since the paper is never actually grabbed by the machine. Never had this issue before. Having this issue for printing from computer or just trying to copy a document. I have ink in the cartridges. I tried unplugging the printer and plugging back in...I tried taking out the paper tray and reinstalling. That didn't help. The system seems to be working fine, it's just not grabbing the paper. Appreciate any help.

Hi @Socalduck,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It seems like you've already tried some basic troubleshooting steps. Let's try a few more to see if we can resolve the issue:
Check Paper Alignment: Ensure that the paper is properly aligned in the tray. Make sure the guides are snug against the paper stack.
Clean the Rollers: Over time, paper dust and debris can accumulate on the rollers, affecting their ability to pick up paper. Turn off the printer, disconnect the power cord, and open the access door to locate the rollers. Clean them gently with a lint-free cloth moistened with water.
Check for Obstructions: Make sure there are no foreign objects (paper clips, bits of paper, etc.) inside the printer that may be hindering the paper path.
Paper Quality: Ensure that you are using the correct type and quality of paper. Low-quality or damaged paper can cause feeding issues.
Reset the Printer: Turn off the printer, disconnect the power cord, and wait for about 60 seconds. Reconnect the power cord and turn on the printer. This can sometimes reset any internal sensors or mechanisms.
Update Printer Firmware: Visit the HP support website and check for any available firmware updates for your printer model. Updating the firmware can sometimes resolve compatibility issues and improve performance.
Check Print Settings: Make sure that the paper settings in the print dialog box on your computer match the paper loaded in the tray.
Try a Different Paper Tray: If your printer has multiple paper trays, try loading paper into a different tray to see if the issue persists.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.-

Thanks for your reply and suggestions. Most of your suggestions I’ve already tried. However, I haven’t tried cleaning the rollers. I also haven’t updated the firmware. I think it may be more of a roller issue, since the unit seems to be functioning fine, aside from the paper grab issue. Will try cleaning the rollers and let you know if that does the trick. Thanks

Hi… I cleaned the rollers and tried using heavier paper. However, the paper is still not getting picked up by the rollers. Not sure what else to try. Sadly, this fairly new printer appears to be useless. Looks like I’ll need to buy another printer. This one only lasted 4 years.
