We recently had to move the printer and when we restarted it continues to show the follwing error message and will not print. "The printhead appears to be missing, not detected, or incorrectly installed."
I have followed the HP suggestions:
1 printer reset
2 reseat the printhead
Next option is too replace and I'm not sure i want to do this ??

Hi! @ChrisRr, Welcome to HP forums.
I understand you are getting printhead errors on your printer.
Don't worry I'll try to help you out.
Did you make any changes to your printer?
Splendid analysis and remarkable patience shown. It is immensely appreciated.
By not wasting much of your time, try few steps recommended below and check if it helps.
Follow these steps to reset the printing mechanism.
Turn the printer on, if it is not already on.
Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you continue.
With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
Wait at least 60 seconds.
Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.
NOTE:
HP recommends connecting the printer power cord directly to the wall outlet.
Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.
Turn on the printer, if it does not automatically turn on.
The printer might go through a warm-up period. The printer lights might flash, and the carriage might move.
Wait until the warm-up period finishes and your printer is idle and silent before you proceed.
Also, try updating the printer firmware and check if it helps.
Update the printer firmware using this link. Click Here
If the issue still persists after trying out the steps, try reseating the printhead three times and check if it works.

I read the post. Thanks for the update and it is great to have you back. Your time and efforts are appreciated greatly. As @A4Apollo is out for the day, i am responding on his behalf. This looks like a hardware issue with the printer and it needs to be replaced. I am being honest about it here.
I will send you a private message to assist you with the next course of action. Check your forum private message box in the upper right corner next to the bell icon
Thanks and have a great day ahead.

I wanted to comment on this thread that my 8620 went through the recent firmware update and immediately after couldn't seem to find the printhead. I have tried everything listed in the troubleshooting section, and even tried to find a way to rollback the firmware. I'm pretty frustrated as this printer was a replacement from HP for a previous printer that had ink cartridge issues (telling me full HP cartridges were empty). Not sure I'm committed to paying $120 for a new printhead when the firmware probably caused the problem?? Time for a Canon perhaps??
