We have 3 of these HP PageWide Pro 477dw's in service at our Public Library.  Anytime a document has purple in it, the PageWide prints the color as a dark blue.  This is occuring on all printer models.  Please help!

Hi,

It appears that you might be low on ink in one of your color inks. Please do the following

On the printer control panel, touch the Ink Level icon or ink level to see if any of your link levels are low or out. If so, then replace the color ink that is out.
   NOTE:
The Ink Level icon that displays on your control panel differs depending on your printer model.

Let me know if this works,

I'm afraid the issue is not that simple.  All ink levels are at full capacity.

Try going to the Setup Menu and select Reports then Print Quality Report.  Once the Print Quality Report is printed, examine to see if the report shows the true color for YCMK.  If so, then you may need to reinstall your printer software.

Hello, here's another solution you can try.

When printing has color issues, try to do cartridge alignment, clean printhead, align printhead, etc. Some printers may not have all these options, just do whatever supported on your printer.

Go to printer's front panel, those options usually under tools menu, or print quality menu, or maintainance menu. Do one option, then print a page, see if color issue is gone. If not, do next one.

Hope this works for your printer.

I also have an issue with overly blue/cyan hues on our images from an HP pagewide pro 577dw.  Even when I remove blue completely from an image (desaturate cyan/blue/greens to 0%) there is still an overly blue/cyan hue on our images.

Other printers seem to respect colour accuracey with in their gamut, but our 577dw has a mind of its own when it comes to colours.

Having the same issue. Just bought a new 477dw - June 1 2018. installed via the CD. Purple backgrounds come out blue, dark browns come out black, etc. I referenced the other articles listed in the thread and tried the latest PS and UPD's and they all produce the same. We bought this as a test in hopes to replace some of the leased machines in the building, but I guess it'll have to go back 😞  .

One thing it did do that we hoped this would fix was printing several 300kb jpg's and have them come out without too much hesitation between images. We have lots of newer enterprise & graphics type leased printers and they all print out a few pages, then think for 10 secs, then print out a few more, etc. which is unacceptable when you want to print maybe 30 jpg's at once. Yes, I tried the latest print drivers (UPD, PC5, PCL6) both USB and Network/Print Server on the leased units.

Same issue with our office's PageWide Pro 552dw. We went through a torturous ordeal with HP over it - they kept updating drivers and shipping us refurbished printers - some working, some not - then they finally agreed to send us a new printer. Every single printer had this same color accuracy problem.

We ended up keeping our original 552dw because we needed PageWide inkjet printing for a specific critical document of ours, but we had to adjust the colors in our document. And other than this issue, we like the printer and its capabilities (for example it spits out stacks of envelopes!). After all was said and done, all HP could do was give us a $100 gift card to get us to close the ticket and stop complaining and making them ship printers back and forth, and that was the end of it.

But we're still not satisfied with the color rendering. I hope HP realizes what a glaring problem this is with this line of printers, and I told them that if they want to reach the photographer market with these PageWides (photographers prefer inkjet over lasers), this is not going to go over well at all.

We just bought a new PageWide Pro MFP 577dw and we are having the same issue. That is to say, when we try to print purple it comes out as blue. I've attached an image that illustrates the problem. Both of these prints are the same document. The one on the left (purple) was printed from an older, non-HP, print. The one on the right (blue) was printed on the new PageWide Pro. Clearly, the color is terrible.

This is a brand new printer with all full ink levels (HP cartridges). I've run the print quality report and the report says everything is okay. I've also updated the drivers and all HP printer software. Also this same purple document prints as truly purple on other color printers. So, it's not a software issue, it's not an ink level issue, it's not a cartidge alignment issue, and it's not a document issue.

This is a serious problem for us!

I am currently investigating a similar issue.

If the people posting to this thread could include pictures then when I am working on my issue with HP I will refer them to this thread so they can seee that this is a widespread problem.
