HP PageWide Pro MFP 477dw

My HP PageWide Pro MFP 477dw has four separate ink cartridges, one for black and three more for magenta, yellow and cyan.

The levels of the colour cartridges have been low since I bought the printer because HP only provides a dribble of ink in the cartritdges from new. I print in black and white 99% of the time (I actually choose "black ink only" in the printer settings) so I am not in a rush to replace them.

I have noticed that despite not performing any colour printing, the colour ink levels continue to drop and today, I have been notified that the magenta cartridge is now completely empty.

Where does the ink go? Does it dry up or evaportate?

Regards,

Keir

Every time you turn your printer ON, and sometimes during the day some amount of all 4 inks are used to maintain printhead and you can't avoid that.
