Hi, I can’t get my photosmart 5524 to print black. I’ve cleaned the printer head several times, done all the things recommended, but still no joy. I’ve included a pic of the quality printout. No black in the box, but the text is in black and looks ok ? But when I print an email for example it prints in a very poor greyish colour. Help !

Since you have already cleaned the printhead, try updating the firmware and let me know if that helps. You can refer to this Link: https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c02919168

Hi, thanks for coming back to me. I actually thought wow, that will fix it. ........... No it didn’t. Lol.
So I thought I’d try cleaning the heads once more ...... no help.
I thought I’d align the heads, but because it’s not printing black, it can’t scan the alignment printed sheet ....lol.
But I found a solution ........
I threw the printer into the trash and bought one from another manufacturer !
That made me feel so much better.
Cheers hp
