Photosmart 6520
iOS 10 - 10.3.3

We rebooted our modem and cable tv by turning it off and on, and now my printer can't find the network again. Setup Wizard doesn't see our network, though our computers, phone and everything else are connected just fine. The cable people came out today and nothing is wrong with the modem. Manually typing in the Network name doesn't work. Trying the WPS button on the modem doesn't work. When I restore the printer to factory settings it won't connect. Wireless light remains on and blinking. I have printed out 2 reports, one that says ATTENTION "Your HP printer is unable to connect to your wireless router." The router is on. The HP printer network name on the report matches our network name. Wireless Setup Wizard still does not see our network. Manually typed in the network name and tried all 3 configurations, no encryption, putting our password in WEP and WPA but nothing worked. Weirdly, my phone sees a network for the printer called "HP-print-43-Photosmart 6520" so it must be searching. URL on report is http://0.0.0.0. so it's not connecting. Can I talk to a human? All solutions offered online by HP support depend on my printer having a network connection.

Welcome to HP Forums,

This is a great place to get support, find answers and tips to your technical queries.

To provide you with an accurate solution, I'll need a few more details:

What's the make and model of your WiFi router?

Do you have any antivirus software installed on your Mac?

Do you have a guest network enabled on your WiFi router?

Approximately how far is the printer located from the WiFi router?

Could you check for WiFi interference and also perform a ping test using the Mac Network Utility and let me know the results. Use the printer IP address to perform a ping test, the printer IP can be located by touching the wireless icon on the printer display.

If you are using a wireless router, check your router’s documentation or support site to make sure it meets the following requirements:

  • Check the router band: Many routers can operate in both 2.4 GHz and 5.0 GHz frequency bands, but not all HP printers support both bands. Make sure the 2.4 GHz router band is enabled and broadcasting. If the router broadcasts separate network names (SSIDs) for each band, connect the printer to the 2.4 GHz band SSID.

  • Bonjour support: HP recommends routers that support Bonjour, Apple's network discovery software. Connecting with Bonjour is the best way to find the printer and support wireless printing.

Keep me posted with the above information.

Have a great day!

Cheers:)

Hi Raj, thanks so much for helping me.

Here are the answers to your questions.

Our router is an ARRIS model TG1672G, it is the same router we have always had and worked fine with this printer before.

The router is 8 feet away from the printer and unobstructed.

I do have Intego Virus Barrier on my Mac but it is turned off. It never interfered with the printer before, everything is exactly the same as it was previously.

We do not have a guest network on our router.

When I push the wireless button on the printer, the screen says "IP ADDRESS: NOT CONNECTED"

I printed out a network configuration page from the printer, and got the IP address and did a ping test.

"Request timeout for icmp_seq 1-10"  10 packets transmitted, 0 packets received.

THIS IS THE EXACT SAME ROUTER THAT WAS WORKING BEFORE WITH THIS EXACT PRINTER. So I didn't go check the specs and documentation on the router because we know it worked before. Everything else connected with the router is working just fine. (phone, internet cable etc.) Only thing that won't work is this printer.

thanks!! hope you can help me figure it out.

Hi Raj, thanks for your help.

I restored the printer to factory settings using the Tools button. There was no "Advanced" setting or option to restore under Preferences. I turned off the printer and turned it back on again. There is no option to Set Up the printer again.

The screen comes up the same as before, it appears to be already set up. It still can't find the Wireless network when I push the button for Setup Wizard.

How do I Set Up the printer? I have looked under every menu on the screen.

thanks again,

Jeanne

Jarn1, did you ever get the problem solved?  I have the same problem and now my laptop can't find the 2.4G band on the router.
