HP Photosmart 6525 want print in black ink on documents but will on photos.

I've searched the support forum for this and it seem this is caused by a defective printhead. If that is really what this is can someone please explain to me why it will print in black on photo paper but will not on regular inkjet paper.

Also when I try to contact Customer Support online it keeps taking me in a loop and I can never get to a place to request help from Customer Support.  Is there something I am doing wrong or overlooking in this process?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for joining the HP Community

Is the copy working fine with the regular paper?

I suggest you do a Hard Reset on the printer

(1) Turn the printer on, if it is not already on.

(2) Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you continue.

(3) With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.

(4) Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.

(5) Wait at least 60 seconds.

(6) Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.

NOTE: HP recommends connecting the printer power cord directly to the wall outlet.

(7) Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.

(8) Turn on the printer, if it does not automatically turn on.

The printer might go through a warm-up period. The printer lights might flash, and the carriage might move.

Wait until the warm-up period finishes and your printer is idle and silent before you proceed.

Update the firmware for the printer using this link: https://support.hp.com/in-en/product/hp-photosmart-6520-e-all-in-one-printer-series/5169038/model/52...

Restart the printer.

Try to print.

If the issue persists, I recommend you delete the driver at the root level and Install the drivers, follow the steps below:

Remove the USB if connected

1.) In Windows, search for and open Programs and features

2.) Select your HP Printer

3.) Select Uninstall

4.) In Windows, search for and open Devices and printers

5.) In the Devices and Printers windows look for your HP printer. If you see it listed right-click on it and choose `Delete' or `Remove Device'

6.) Open up the run command with the "Windows key + R" key combo.

7.) Type printui.exe /s and click Ok. (Note: there is a space in between "printui.exe" and "/s")

8.) Click on the "Drivers" tab

9.) Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it Click on it and click Remove at the bottom

10.) Select Ok

11.) Select Apply and Ok on the Print Server Properties windows

12.) Close Devices and Printers

Then, Click on this link: https://support.hp.com/in-en/drivers/selfservice/swdetails/hp-photosmart-6520-e-all-in-one-printer-s... to download and install the HP Photosmart 6520 e-All-in-One Printer Full Feature Software and Drivers.

Try to print.

Raj1877,

Thanks for taking the time to try and help me with this issue.  To answer your question.. No, the copy function is not working.  It just prints out a blank sheet of paper, so the black ink part is not working there either.

I carefully went through each of the steps you suggested and nothing changed.  The firmware on this model has not been updated since Oct 30, 2015 and I had already uninstalled and reinstalled that a couple of times before I posted on the HP Community.  The link to "Black Ink Not Printing" was my first stop and I have done numerus printhead cleaning and alignments to no avail.

It's a mystery to me that the picture that prints after the install comes out beautifully in color but nothing will print in black and white or grayscale.

I just ordered and received 4 new ink cartridges for this printer and if it truly is the printhead I would hope that these are returnable since the printer is no good to me if I can't print in black and white.

Please advise me as to the next step in resolving my issues.

Thanks again for your help.
