I am having the same issue. If I put a mirror in the paper tray to see the gear I can see the rod spinning but the gear does not move so I’m guessing it’s the gear that’s stripped not the gears on the rod. Is there a way to replace the gear? Id really not have to buy a new printer since I haven’t had this one but maybe a year and a half. Thanks for your help.

Greetings and Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Appreciate you trying the steps and isolating the issue.
I'm afraid the part that you are referring to is not a customer replaceable part. Please Contact HP Support in your region regarding the service options for your printer.
Hope this helps!
