Hi

I downloaded HP print and scan doctor to troubleshoot an issue i have with a printer.

Once clicked, it extracts some files and creates a shortcut on desktop, when i click the shortcut, it runs again an extract for couple of seconds then nothing happend. i checked the processes, i found one called HPdiagnostic that runs for these same couple of second after i click the shortcut then stops

any idea what do i need to do to get HP print and scan doctor to work?

I have tried the recomended steps involving the task manager, but this did not hwlp, as the HP Print and Scan Doctor, seems to crash as soon as it is activated...

I operate on win 10, DELL computer, with HP ENVY 5032 All In One Printer...

Kindly,

Mickey

Hi,

Regarding the printer, the black cartridge was empty. But my HP smart program, insisted that teh cartridge was only on a low level... Anyway, it was empty, and a new cartridge did solve the problem. It is still weird that the HP smart program would indicate sufficient ink level... Well... that's life sometimes.

Regarding HP Print and Scan Doctor -> Tried 8 times the uninstall and reinstallation of the scan doctor. No change... My pc is relatively new (Del Vostro, 1 year old).

kindly,

Mickey

Let's uninstall the HP Print and Scan Doctor again. Delete all the temporary files:

  1. Press the Windows Button + R to open the "Run" dialog box.
  2. Enter this text: %temp%
  3. Click "OK." This will open your temp folder.
  4. Press Ctrl + A to select all.
  5. Press "Delete" on your keyboard and click "Yes" to confirm.
  6. All temporary files will now be deleted.

Once done, restart your Computer and install the HP Print and Scan Doctor.

Let me know if this helps.

Hi Betty0610,

Thank you for your help... Unfortunately, this didn't resolve my problem... After installing, i double click on the installed icon on my desktop. The program seems to respond by extracting % files, and a new white window opens. No text is in this white window, but it closes after about 3 seconds, and then nothing happens...

Let's try to do a root uninstall and reinstall of the software:

Unplug any USB cable, if any, before doing this.

1.) In Windows, search for and open Programs and features

2.) Select your HP Printer

3.) Select Uninstall

4.) In Windows, search for and open Devices and printers

5.) In the Devices and Printers windows look for your HP printer. If you see it listed right-click on it and choose 'Delete' or 'Remove Device'

6.) Open up the run command with the "Windows key + R" key combo.

7.) Type printui.exe /s and click Ok. (Note: there is a space in between “printui.exe” and “/s”)

8.) Click on the "Drivers" tab

9.) Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it Click on it and click Remove at the bottom

10.) Select Ok

11.) Select Apply and Ok on the Print Server Properties windows

12.) Close Devices and Printers

13.) Open up the run command with the "Windows key + R" key combo

14.) Type c:/programdata and click Ok. Go to Hewlett Packard folder, remove any printer related folders & files.

15.) Restart the computer.

Once done, please download and install the software from here:

Thank you very very!! much for your effort...
I did everything according to your instructions. Installed a new driver for my HP envy 5032 printer. Everything is working fine... But the HP Print and Scan Doctor, will not budge... I am lost for words 🙂

I am starting to think that there is no solution for the HP Print and Scan Doctor.

PS. what is the difference between the regular HP driver, to the added 'HP Smart' app which was also downloaded to my pc in the same process?

Kindly,

Mickey

I'm glad to hear that and you're most welcome. There is no difference between the two as such.

Do get back to us in the future for further assistance.
