I have a HP 2515 Deskjet inkjet Printer which was printing perfectly well until recently. Now the printer is not turning on. When I attach the adapter and power cord to the printer (even tried through wall socket) the printer panel lights up for 1 second only and then goes completely dead.
Please advise what is the problem and how to resolve it.
Thanks
Nina

@NinaNaik, Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
this sounds like a power-related hardware issue, which is fairly common in older inkjet models like the HP Deskjet Ink Advantage 2515. Based on what you’ve said (lights flash for a second, then nothing), here’s what could be going on and what you can try to resolve it:
🔍 Possible Causes
Faulty Power Adapter or Cord
The adapter may not be supplying consistent voltage or current. Even a brief light-up suggests a short power delivery before failure.
Internal Hardware Fault (Power Supply Board)
A component like a capacitor or voltage regulator may have failed on the internal circuit board.
Firmware Crash or Lock-up
Rare but possible—firmware may be stuck and not completing the boot cycle.
✅ Step-by-Step Troubleshooting
Power Reset
Try a basic hardware reset:
- Disconnect the power adapter from both the printer and the wall.
- Wait at least 60 seconds.
- Reconnect directly to a known-good wall outlet (avoid surge protectors or extension boards).
- Press and hold the power button for 10-15 seconds after reconnecting the cable.
Check Power Adapter
- Inspect the power adapter and cable for any physical damage, loose ends, or burnt smells.
- If you have a multimeter, test the output voltage (should be printed on the adapter—likely 30V or 32V DC).
- If available, borrow a compatible HP adapter and try powering the printer with that.
Try Without Cartridges or USB
- Sometimes cartridge or USB connection issues can cause startup failure:
- Disconnect the USB cable.
- Remove both cartridges.
- Try powering on with just the power cable.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
