Hi @DipendraChauhan,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

Thanks for the details! When you're seeing Error E0 on your HP DeskJet Ink Advantage 4178, it typically means the printer is in Setup mode and is expecting Setup cartridges (the special ink cartridges that came in the box). If you've already used or lost those cartridges, or are trying to use regular ones, the printer won’t accept them unless you exit setup mode

Steps: Factory Reset HP DeskJet Ink Advantage 4178

  1. Turn ON the printer.
  2. Remove any ink cartridges currently installed.
  3. Press and hold:
    • Cancel button ()
    • Wireless button (📶)
Hold both for at least 10–15 seconds until the printer starts blinking or shows signs of resetting.
  4. If that doesn't trigger a reset:
    • Try Cancel + Power or Wireless + Color Copy buttons together for 10+ seconds.
  5. Once reset:
    • Reinsert cartridges and go through the setup again using the HP Smart app.
    • If the printer still asks for setup cartridges, you’ll need to contact HP Support to request a Setup Mode override or cartridge pairing reset.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
