Reporting a HP Printer Support Scam - I was on the HP Smart website researching a problem with my HP 8025 printer. A popup chat box appeared. I explained my problem and was told I would receive a callback, which I did. I assumed I was dealing with HP or an authorized HP business partner. It was actually iTech Services [content removed]. They pointed out problems with my PC, that upon further research were not problems at all. (Local network not secure, Errors and warnings in Event Viewer administrative events are a big problem). I foolishly bought their $199 repair service. They took control of my computer, and among other things, installed an icon on my desktop "SSL Guard.exe". This was supposed to be a firewall, but was just an icon with no software behind it. I ran a Malwarebytes scan which identified this as a Trojan and quarantined it.

Hi @Rick_Bradenton,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
I'd like to help!
Kindly do not click or respond to any such options, as they may lead to viruses, as you mentioned.
Since you ran the virus scan and found that it's a Trojan virus, we recommend you reimage/ reset your PC, so the computer will be safe from all the viruses and malware.
Back up your data and run recovery using this link.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.
