Greetings @abuani,
Welcome to HP Forums and Thanks for the post.
I understand that you are facing an issue with your printer not staying connected to your router, is that right?
Not to worry, I will be glad to assist you.
Have you tried any troubleshooting steps on your own?
Are you using a dual band router?
Note: HP Printers do not work or connect to 5Ghz networks. If you are using a dual band router, please give different names to 2.4Ghz and 5 Ghz networks and connect the printer to the 2.4Ghz network.
To resolve the issue you are facing, request you follow the procedure mentioned below to assign a manual IP address to the printer.
- Obtain the IP address of the printer (which can found by pressing the “wireless” icon on the printer control panel)
- Enter the IP address on the web browser (Ex: chrome, IE) to enter the printer EWS page.
- Go to the “Network” tab, click on “Wireless (802.11) then click on “Network address (IPV4)
- Click on the radio button which says “Manual IP” and then click “Suggest a manual IP address” to give a manual IP address to your printer.
Refer to Step 11 in this article.
Let me know if this helped.

Hi @abuani,
Thank you for your reply, I'll be more than glad to help you.
I understand that the issue still persists after following the steps provided in the previous interaction.
It looks like you were interacting with @Chimney_83, but he is out of the office today so I'll take over from here.
You can connect all the printers on the network by assigning the static IP address. You need to change the last digit so that the IP addresses are different.
While printing you can select the required printer on the network.
You may follow the steps provided below to assign a static IP address for the printer:
Step1: Identify Your Printer’s Network Settings:
- On your HP printer, press the Setup button to display setup options for the printer.
- Press the right arrow button until Network Setup appears in the LED window, and then press the OK button.
- Press the right arrow button again until the Print Network Settings option is displayed, and then press the OK button. This prints the network settings, which include the IP address, Subnet mask, and Default Gateway (the address of your network’s router).
Step2: Setting a Static IP Address:
- Run your Web browser.
- In the Web browser’s address bar, type the IP address of your printer and press Enter. Assuming you entered the right address, the HP printer control panel should appear.
- Click the Networking tab.
- Under Connections, click Wireless.
- Under IP Address Configuration, click Manual IP.
- Enter the IP address, subnet mask, and default gateway in the appropriate boxes.
- Click Apply.
You may need to restart the networked computers, so they can reconnect with the printer.
Let me know if this works.
You have a good day ahead.

All of my HP printers disconnect. All of my Hp Printers have static IP's. It happens across OS platforms and on different networks. Please read thid before responding. I do not want to have to reinstall the printers before I print. I have to do it almost every time. And it only happens with my HP printers OfficeJet 6500A, OfficeJet 8710, and an OfficeJet 8740. Everysingle one has to be reinstalled to start working agaian. Every single one on every single PC. I will not be purchasing any more HP printers unless I can get the issue resolved.
