Was scaning a document today and notice that my HP 6700 software had changed to HP Smart. Who installed this software? Was this an update from MicroSoft?

That sounds odd - although HP Smart can certainly be downloaded and installed from the Microsoft Store, I have never heard of the software coming and replacing the Full Feature Software already installed on the computer.

 

Normally, I would expect that you would have to deliberately install the software, that is, open the Store, find and download / install HP Smart.  After the software is installed, and depending on how your Windows Updates are configured, future "updates" to the software might be handled through Windows Updates.

HP Smart is most commonly used on mobile devices.

I am NOT denying what you say is true - I have not seen the software appear on the computer by itself.   ?

 

 

If the Full Feature Software is on the computer, you can start it by double-clicking the Printer Assistant shortcut icon on the Desktop (named for your printer).  Select Scan Document or Photo (wording varies).

 

If the Full Feature Software has been removed / uninstalled, can be downloaded, saved, and installed.
