Printing jobs are a disaster. Printer stops halfway through, restarts, or simply does not continue. It constantly gives me messages about page size being incorrect or having to install cartridges properly. Simply cannot get a full print job done!

Hi @Jouput,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like you're experiencing multiple issues with your HP Smart Tank 530, including printing interruptions, error messages about page size, and cartridge-related issues. Let's try a few steps to address these problems.
Check Paper Settings:
- Ensure the paper size settings in the print dialog match the actual paper size in the printer tray. Mismatched settings can cause the printer to stop or give an error.
- Go to your printer settings on your computer, select the correct paper size (e.g., A4 or Letter), and apply changes before sending the print job.
Check Cartridges Installation:
- Remove and reinstall cartridges: Open the printer, remove the ink cartridges, and make sure they’re seated properly when you reinstall them.
- Clean the ink cartridge contacts using a lint-free cloth to ensure they are free from dust or ink buildup.
Reset the Printer:
- Turn off the printer and disconnect it from the power source for about 60 seconds.
- After reconnecting, power it back on and check if the issue persists.
Update Printer Firmware:
- Go to the HP website and check for any available firmware updates for your Smart Tank 530. An outdated firmware version could cause print job issues.
Check for Paper Jams or Blockages:
- Open the printer, check for any paper jams or pieces of paper that might be stuck inside, and remove them carefully.
- Ensure the paper tray is not overfilled and the paper is aligned properly.
Reinstall HP Smart Software:
- Uninstall the HP Smart software on your computer, restart, and reinstall the latest version from the HP website. This can resolve software-related errors during print jobs.
Check Connectivity (for Wireless Printing):
- If you're printing over Wi-Fi, ensure that your printer and computer are on the same network and that the Wi-Fi connection is stable. You might want to try a USB connection to rule out network-related issues.
Clear the Print Queue:
- Go to your computer's printer settings and check if there are any stuck print jobs in the queue. Clear them and try printing again.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
