HP Smart Tank 581 All-in-One Printer

Hi guys,

Bought this printer early January 2024, after the initial setup everything was great...then the annoying issue started.

1. Seems like the printer is not happy when connected to a WIFI 6 enabled Access Point, such as the Unifi Dream Router. It would show as connected but the printer would not be available either via the HP Smart App or show as available from your Mobile device. > workaround is to have the printer pinned to always connect to a WIFI 5 or earlier Access Point. I have a Unifi Network stack at home.

2. Thinking this issue is now solved, I was wrong...even though the printer is connected to a WIFI network it should not "Auto Off" after 4hours according to your description of what and when Auto Off will apply.

"The printer will automatically turn off after a period of inactivity to help reduce energy use. This feature is automatically disabled when the printer is connected to a computer or mobile device, a network, or a fax line (if supported).

Auto-Off turns the printer off completely, so you must use the power button to turn the printer back on.

Auto-Off

Note:

  1. The Auto-Off setting is preset and cannot be configured."

DAILY the printer goes into a non-responsive state - the blue light for WIFI is lit as well as the power button. However non of the buttons are responsive not even the power button!!! If I check my Unifi Portal I can't see the device is connected to WIFI. Then guess what I need to do to bring the printer to life again? Disconnect and reconnect the power cord, DAILY. Do you have any idea how frustrating this is!?

I have already tried to Restore Factory Defaults, Restore Network Settings and then eventually did a HP Secure Erase...none of this has worked.

FW update was completed running FW version LWP1CN2403AR with a build date of 2024-01-19, no further FW updates are available.

What do I have to do to ensure this printer functions without having to be inconvenienced every single day by resetting the power cord?
