HP Smart Tank 6001 - when document is sent to printer over wifi, I hear the printer engage but no paper feed or printing.  When I open the printer queue, I see the message "sent to printer, error".   Printer works fine when I print a copy, etc. directly from the printer.

Hi @ganson69,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

Your HP Smart Tank 6001 is clearly fine mechanically (since it copies directly), but the “Sent to printer, error” message in the print queue means the Windows/Mac driver or network communication layer is failing. The printer engages but doesn’t feed paper because the job never reaches the print engine.

Clear the print spooler

Stop the Print Spooler service, delete files in C:\Windows\System32\spool\PRINTERS, then restart the service.

This removes stuck jobs that cause “sent to printer" errors.

Uninstall all HP printer software.

Download the HP Smart Tank 6000 series Full Feature Software from HP’s support site.

Install with USB disconnected, then reconnect or add via Wi‑Fi.

Update Firmware

Kindly refer to this link to update your printer firmware.

I hope this helps

Take care and have an amazing day ahead! 🚀

Best regards,
