My Smart Tank 7005 stopped working while printing a double sided document.
Error message shown is "top cover open", however it is obviously not open.
I've tried to reset the printer to factory condition, but no results: as soon as I set the wifi the error reposts.
Have anyone experienced similar situation? It has just turned 2 years old (so warranty is expired) and printed less than 2000 copies (so nothing!!).
I'm a bit upset about the situation, but maybe is a silly thing like new firmware update or other... please help me!!
Thanks a lot to everyone who might support!

Hi @Dafede,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like you've already taken some good troubleshooting steps. Here are a few more things you could try.
- Check for Obstructions: Ensure that there are no obstructions blocking the top cover from closing fully. Sometimes even a small piece of debris can trigger a false "top cover open" error.
- Inspect the Sensor: There might be a sensor that detects whether the top cover is open or closed. It could be malfunctioning or obstructed. Try to locate it and make sure it's clean and functioning properly.
- Update Firmware: As you mentioned, sometimes firmware updates can fix bugs or issues with the printer. Check if there are any new firmware updates available for your printer model and install them.
- Try Different Connectivity: Since you mentioned that the error occurs as soon as you set up the Wi-Fi, try using a different connection method, such as a USB cable, if possible. This might help determine if the issue is related to the Wi-Fi setup or if it's a hardware problem.
If none of these steps resolve the issue, it's possible that there could be a hardware problem with the printer itself.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
