After Windows 10 install, HP Solution Center, which was part of the installation software for my HP Officejet 4500 510nz, tells me that the software is incomplete. The installation disk won't open, so I downloded the program from HP and re-installed it. I still get the message that the sofware is incomplete. HP reports that they no longer support this printer (bought 5/24/14 - Possibly 9/25/13!) - WOW!~ Printer still prints, but will not perform other functions such as scan, etc., because HP Solution Center won't operate, and HP has abandoned support for their product.
Now what? Must I buy a new printer to replace this 1 yr. old HP so I can use it's features with W10 ?????
Or, is there way to fix it?

Welcome back to the HP Community @Warren46,
I came across your message about how your software installation for your Officejet 4500 is stating it is "incomplete", and I wanted to lend a hand to try and help you. I have checked the drivers available, and printers compatible with Windows 10, and this unit is definitely on the list!
I would suggest starting with a clean boot, restart the PC, and then run the HP Printer Install Wizard for Windows to find and install the drivers and software for you.
Here are the steps in order:
1. Begin by typing “msconfig” in the Cortana Search Box and then click on MSConfig (Run Command)
Or on your keyboard press the Windows + R key at the same time and type Msconfig in the run window, then click on OK or hit enter.
2. Now choose Selective Start-up
3. Remove the check from Load Startup Items
4. Click on the Services tab
5. Check “Hide all Microsoft Services” and then click on Disable All
6. Click on Apply and then on OK, and restart the PC.
7. When the PC is restarted, run the PIW above to install the printer.
If you run in to any errors or issues, reply back to me with the details and I will look into them!
Good luck,

Thanks for the response, Rainbow 7000, however, I found that HP has posted a complete yet simple solution here:
I tried it, and it works!

The problem never got fixed. W-10 problems continued to breed and grow exponentially. In spite of 20+ hours on the phone with Microsoft Answer Desk, I was finally advised that the sole solution was to wipe my hard drive and start over.
Fortunately I had a set of W-7 restoration disks, and was able to get the computer running again. I have since restored almost all of my valuable files and programs from an on-line backup service, and am almost back to normal with W-7.
Two of my friends also encountered severe issues with W-10, one so bad that the computer simply could not be made to boot, and he replaced it with a new desktop.
At this point there is nothing that could convince me to re-assume the position of Micosoft Guinea Pig by re-installing W-10! I will wait until Microsoft convices the market that W-10 is ready for "prime Time"!

I have tried numerous times to get the software for my Photosmart Premium C410 installed with no success. I did a clean install of Windows 10 and initially, the C410 installed properly. Late December, after a Microsoft update, the HP Solution Center stopped working, so I tried to update my printer software. That's when the Solution Center disappeared. I tried your clean boot suggestion, but still the software does not load. After the install, I ran the HP Print and Scan Doctor and it continues to report that "the full software solution is not installed on this computer". What should I tru next? My computer is an HP Elitebook 8440p.
Thank you,
David

I have the same problem. Because of this I am boycotting HP products comepletely. I decided to try and resolve this issue one last time before I buy a new printer. It WILL NOT BE AN HP!
