Hello, I have a HP Tango and use Mac/OS.
The printer has stopped printing properly. It is also sending incorrect info to the desktop and HP Smart mobile app.
eg: printer low on Paper (it is not),
Printer is Busy (but nothing is printing etc)
It has been printing and then stopping randomly mid way and today, is now not printing at all.
I have looked for Mac relevant drivers etc - but there are none available for Mac OS Sequoia 15.2
I have also tried unplugging etc to no avail.

I love this compact printer and would be so grateful for help to get it working again! 🙂

Thank you so much

Hi @Helen2041

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like you're experiencing several issues with your HP Tango printer after updating to macOS Sequoia 15.2, including intermittent printing, incorrect status messages, and overall lack of functionality. I understand how frustrating this can be, especially when you enjoy using the printer!

Here’s a systematic approach to troubleshoot and hopefully resolve the issues you’re facing:

1. Ensure Printer is Properly Set Up on macOS

Before diving into deeper solutions, let's first ensure that your printer setup is correct.

  • Disconnect the printer from your Mac.
  • Reboot your Mac to clear any temporary software issues.
  • Reconnect your HP Tango to the Mac and try to re-add it:
    1. Go to System Preferences > Printers & Scanners.
    2. Click the "+" button to add the printer again.
    3. If your HP Tango shows up in the list, select it and try printing again.

If your printer doesn't appear, make sure it's connected via Wi-Fi and both the Mac and printer are on the same network.

2. Reset the Printing System

macOS has a feature that can help reset your printer system, clearing out any corrupted settings or miscommunication that might be causing issues.

Steps:

  1. Go to "System Preferences" > "Printers & Scanners".
  2. Right-click (or Control-click) in the left pane where your printer list appears and select "Reset printing system...".
  3. This will remove all printers and scanners from the list.
  4. After the reset, re-add your HP Tango by clicking the "+" and selecting the printer from the available devices.

3. Clear Print Queue and Reboot Printer

Sometimes a stuck print job can block other jobs from printing.

Steps:

  1. Go to System Preferences > Printers & Scanners.
  2. Select your HP Tango and click Open Print Queue.
  3. Cancel any pending print jobs.
  4. Once the queue is empty, restart your HP Tango printer by turning it off and on.
  5. Try printing a test page from your Mac.

4. Check for Firmware Updates on HP Tango

Your printer might require a firmware update, especially if you're using a newer version of macOS like Sequoia 15.2.

  • Open the HP Smart app on your Mac or mobile device.
  • Check if there are any firmware updates available for your HP Tango printer.
    • If the printer is connected to the HP Smart app, the app should notify you of any available updates.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
