I have own this printer for years and have always used genuine HP ink cartridges.  I was printing my tax returns when it stopped and gave me an error message. I can no longer print until I enroll in an Instant Ink account. I checked my cartridge and saw the color one says Instant Ink. I I have never enrolled before, I purchased this ink from Best Buy. No idea why it would say Instant Ink on it.  The cartridge has barely been used since purchasing it. It's full.  I seldom print documents, at most 10 pages a year.  My printer was not cheap, the genuine ink is not cheap, not I have a paper weight disguised as a printer and full cartridge of ink that is money wasted.  

HP should be ashamed of themselves. If I could sell this wasted machine I would but I do not want to curse the next person with an inferior product that milks the customer of money.

No more HP products for me ever!

I'm truly sorry you're facing such frustration with your HP Envy 7155. 

It sounds like a tough situation, especially since you've already invested in genuine ink and rely on this printer. 

 

HP Instant Ink cartridges are specific to their subscription service, meaning they are tied to an active Instant Ink account. 

They won't function unless the printer is enrolled in Instant Ink—even if the cartridge was purchased separately, it could have been mistakenly stocked and sold as Instant Ink instead of a regular cartridge.
